In mid July of 1997, I came across a 1966 El Camino for sale. I purchased the entire rolling chassis for $400.00 (after thorough inspection of the frame) and went to work.

The first step was to strip the El-Camino frame of all front end parts, and paint it. The frame hardly even had any surface rust, and I was able to grind it down to bare metal using a brass wire wheel. Then I applied a rust converer over the bare metal to seal off any remaining rust.
