My '66 Chevelle was sorely in need of a frame,
due to massive rust. The original frame was rusted badly, and
the new 345HP small block that I installed a year ago was only
making the problem worse. The car was to the point where the
driver's door would not open anymore, and I knew that the
frame was literally bending in the middle. Here is a picture
of the driver's side frame rail. You can see where someone
welded a side plate onto the frame, and you can also see the
gaping rust hole in the frame. The inboard portion of the
frame was even worse.
